ITS America Selects VuStar for the 15th World Congress on Intelligent Transportation Systems Falls Church VA-Sept. 2008-The Intelligent Transportation Society of America ITSA recognized the potential of the R-Series equipped New World Tours coaches right away, that's why in early 2008 ITSA brought together Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) and VuStar to participate in the 15th ITS World Congress Vehicle Infrastructure Integration (VII) Test Bed. SwRI is outfitting six New World Tours coaches with Dedicated Short Range Communications (DSRC) devices which will gather information from all six coaches; this information will be displayed from the VuStar R-Series platform already integrated on the NWT fleet. Conference delegates riding the arterial loop through the streets of New York will experience the simultaneous applications running on several of the 23 inch on board monitors. Actual raw probe data will be transmitted to a Transportation Management Center (TMC) from the 6 motor coaches to showcase the future of cooperative systems applications and how transportation is managed in years to come.

Steven Sprouffske, Senior Research Analyst of SwRI described that the R-Series platform provides an opportunity to display intelligent transportation systems information on board in real-time, which until recently was not available in the bus fleet. Real time data from vehicle-to-infrastructure communications can be seen on the bus and on backhaul applications for public and private consumption depending on configuration. This data assists fleet management and transportation managers with improving mobility and reliability for commercial and private vehicles. In the future, DSRC enabled vehicles may provide enhanced active safety and mobility systems enabled via the low latency DSRC communications channel.

"This is a great opportunity to demonstrate VuStar's capabilities to an audience that understands the need for this technology and the importance of vehicle communications," says Jay Lytell, Director of Operations. The 15th World congress will highlight the largest fully integrated vehicle to vehicle, vehicle-to-roadside communication technology conference of its kind with over 10,000 transportation, technology and business professionals from around the world. Lytell went onto add, "VuStar is more than an AV integration company and this is the perfect forum to showcase our talents and perhaps most importantly, sharing our ideas with companies like SwRI and Ygomi in order to build lasting relationships."

About New World

New World Tours, the most reliable, efficient, and safety-oriented motor coach carrier in the metropolitan Washington, D.C. area, and one of America's most dynamic motor coach companies. New World Tours was created as a new corporate entity in 1994 with the merger of two smaller, ambitious bus companies serving the nation's capital and the northeastern United States. The name "New World" was our safety director Mart Bowman's inspiration: he believed that an entirely new kind of motor carrier company was being born. We strive daily to live up to that vision inherent in our name. Since that time, New World has grown into one of the most respected motor carriers on the East Coast. And we've never forgotten that our pledge to our customers is outstanding safety, service, and value. Fully insured, and authorized by the U.S. Department of Transportation, we take great pride in the matchless cleanliness and reliability of our fleet, and the safety records of our professionally-trained, experienced, uniformed operators. www.newworldtours.com
